Charlie Clay Rogers III

Charlie Clay Rogers III passed this life on October 10, 2022 after complications from recently diagnosed stage 4 cancer to go to his heavenly home. Charlie was born in Shelbyville, Tn. on December 31, 1956 to the late Charlie and Vera Rogers.Charlie is survived by Micki Duke Rogers his loving wife of 31 years, they resided in Tullahoma, Tn., daughter Jamie (Chad) Hart of Alabama, son B.J. (Andrea) Ratcliffe of Estill Springs, his son at heart Alvaro Silingardi Jorge of Brazil, his brother Dennis (Donna) Rogers of Lynchburg, his sister Beth Duke of Manchester, his pride and joy, granddaughter Morgan Ratcliffe of Estill Springs and grandson Matthew Ratcliffe of Estill Springs. His nieces and nephews Shelby (Taylor) Dearman, Zackary Rogers, Kevin (Brandy) Duke, Tyler Broadbent, Rachel Broadbent, Austin Broadbent, Brittany Broadbent, Blake Broadbent, Logan Duke, Lance Duke, Jackson Duke, Colton Duke, Easton Duke, Danielle Keifer, Chase Jackson, Brad Cates and Brandon Jerdom. His fur babies Kobe, Sully and Rocky and a host of other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Charlie and Vera Rogers and brother-in-law Butch Duke.Charlie was a person that everyone loved from the first minute they met him. He had a heart of gold and would literally help anyone in need. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, brother-in-law, son-in-law and friend. He and Micki were blessed to have over 30 years together to make lots of wonderful memories. Jamie and B.J. were blessed with a wonderful father. Dennis and Beth were not only brother and sister but lifelong friends. He loved taking kids under his wing and teaching them whatever he could, many called him dad. He was a very smart, well rounded man and shared that knowledge with many. He never lost his sense of humor.Charlie was part owner in Life Sensing Instrument Company of Tullahoma for 30 years. He traveled the world in past years and made many friends. He was a member of Franklin County Rescue Squad for 20 years. He worked the 1996 Olympics whitewater salom event and was among a select few with the most rescues. He retired in 2017. Two years ago he and his brother purchased what is now RCZ and worked together.Charlie attended Shiloh United Methodist Church in Wheel TN. growing up and still currently helped with the bread trailer for the monthly food drive. One accomplishment he was proud of was his Sunday school pins for never missing a Sunday in eighteen years as a child. He was currently a member of Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Winchester, Tn.Charlie loved fishing, boating, being on the tractor, and fixing anyone's car or implement that pulled in the driveway with a problem. He always had a sundrop waiting if you wanted it and a few extra dollars for gas or a date.Charlie is loved deeply by many and will be greatly missed. He was definitely a one of a kind person.A celebration of life will be held at the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Family Life Center of the church located at 200 Second Avenue Northwest Winchester, Tn. 37398. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and also on Saturday from 12:00 pm until the time of service. A meal will be served in the fellowship hall following the service. Gowen-Smith Chapel in Shelbyville is assisting the family.
