Mr. David Leon Draine

Mr. David Leon Draine, age 61, of Shelbyville, peacefully transitioned from his earthly home in the early morning hours of December 6 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, December 9, 2022, at Edgemont Baptist Church. Burial, with full military honors will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 12 noon until service time Friday at Edgemont Baptist Church. David Leon Draine was born February 15, 1961, in Shelbyville TN. He was the son of the late Bettie Lou Ferguson and Jesse Draine, Jr. David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Earl Draine. David was an exceptional athlete as a kid. He excelled in baseball, earning various accolades, trophies, and newspaper write ups. David attended Shelbyville Central High where he would later graduate after a few years of serving our country in the military. He served 3 years in the army stationed at Fort Hood and received an honorable discharge in 1987. Afterwards, he went on to serve 5 years in the reserve and national guard in Nashville, TN and Shelbyville, TN respectively. David accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age. He was a member of MT Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he later became a deacon in 2018. David loved life and he always enjoyed it to the fullest. When he was present, a good time was going to be had. His "larger than life" personality will be missed. Left to cherish his memory are his six children, Nicole "Nicky" (Torrey) Smith of Shelbyville, Stephanie Draine of Alliance, OH, Elijah Hubbard of Killeen, TX, Danielle (Kevin, Sr) Jackson of Columbus OH, Stacey Draine and Renata Foster both of Shelbyville, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. His grandchildren meant the world to him. He affectionately nicknamed each one of them. Also left to cherish his memory is the woman he called just "Mom", Barbara Draine, five siblings, Anderson (Valerie) Buchanan, Mary Buchanan both of Shelbyville, Mamie (Carlus) Love of Lewisburg, Chris (Nena) Draine and Jessica Draine both of Shelbyville, his uncles and aunts that he lovingly called his "Golden Honeys", a host of nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, friends and a very special friend, Drexel Nelson. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
