Harriett Jane Blackburn

Jane T. Blackburn, 96, a long-time resident of Shelbyville, TN, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Community Care of Rutherford County, Murfreesboro, TN. A Viola, Warren County, Tennessee native, Mrs. Blackburn was retired from Lovemans and Miller Brothers Company in Chattanooga, TN where she was in the shoe department sales. She also worked at the Fairlane Church of Christ daycare center for several years after retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Wayne Blackburn, her parents George Wesley and Daisy Ophelia King Thompson; two brothers, Tom and Joe Thompson; and two sisters Estelle Wiesener Pointer and Willie Mae McCormack Roach. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Fairlane Church of Christ, Shelbyville, with burial to follow in Zion Hill Cemetery, Bedford County, TN. Geoff Giesemann, Russ Countess, Henry Wilhoite and Tom Russell will officiate. Mrs. Blackburn is survived by a son, Donald Wayne Blackburn (Darla) of Huntsville, AL; daughters, H. Kay Blackburn Parker, Shelbyville, TN; Joy Blackburn Russell (Tom), Fayetteville, TN; Jan Blackburn Hines (Greg), Nashville, TN; ten grandchildren, Kevin Blackburn (Britani), Shirley Parker Troilo (Steve), Sarah Parker Shepherd (Steve), Jon Russell (Krissy), Larissa Russell Chastain (Mark), Philip Hines, Katherine Hines Hampton (Jordan), Sarah Hines, Jonathan Hines, and Hannah Hines; fifteen great-grandchildren, Oliver Blackburn, Poppy Blackburn, Josh Goosby, Cameron Troilo, Connor Troilo, Bryan Botts, Dustin Shepherd, Davis Russell, Jake Russell, Chase Russell, Ashley Russell, Carley Chastain, Claire Chastain, Ethan Chastain, and Gavin Hollenbeck. Visitation with the family is Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 at Gowen-Smith Chapel and March 14, 2012 from 9:30 to 10:45 at the Fairlane Church of Christ. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of the Fairlane Church of Christ: Steve Bobo, Vance Clay, David Esslinger and Tim Loudermilk. Active pallbearers will be family members: Kevin Blackburn, Josh Goosby, Steve Troilo, Jon Russell, Mark Chastain, Philip Hines, Jonathan Hines, and Jordan Hampton.
