Margaret Westelle Crosslin Giles

Margaret Westelle Crosslin Giles passed away on the 28th of May 2025 in Shelbyville, Tennessee. She was born to James Wesley Crosslin, Sr. and Rebecca Era Johnson Crosslin on October 11th, 1927. Westelle led a happy and active life filled with family and friends. She served the community while working in the dental field for 25 years. Westelle was a published author three times over. She was also featured in a gathering of recipes from grandmothers around the world in the book, Grand Dishes. She drew much of her joy from being a member of Grace Baptist Church, The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Bedford County Historical Society, and the Library Book Club. She enjoyed the Shelbyville Recreation Center, reading, sewing, cooking for her family, and lunching with her friends. Funeral services will 2 PM Saturday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Bobby McGee will be officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1 PM Saturday, until service time at the funeral home. Westelle was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Claude Giles; great-grandson, J. Ethan Giles Sloan; siblings: Price Crosslin, John Crosslin, Avery “Buster” Crosslin, Blanche Pittman, Shirley McGill Clark, and Jane Luers; and nephew, Michael Crosslin. Westelle is survived by her three sons: Gary Giles, Randy (Susan) Giles, and Steve (Gail) Giles; three grandchildren: Chris (Jeni) Giles, Jason (Dina) Giles, and Steffie Giles Sloan; nine great-grandchildren, Scott Giles, Jonathan (Addison) Giles, Luke (Elizabeth) Giles, Garrett Giles, Ian Giles, Wes Giles, John “Max” Sloan, and Margaret “Maggie” Sloan; and thirteen loved nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on the 31st of May, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the time of the service at 2pm. Following the memorial celebration, a graveside service will take place at Willow Mount Cemetery where Westelle will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Claude. Westelle’s kind spirit, generosity, compassion, and sharp intellect touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Hospice of Highland Rim.
