Mrs. Carlie Dawn Burns Powell, age 47, of Shelbyville, passed away unexpectedly February 28, 2021. Funeral services will be 12 PM Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Lisa Cook and Sayle Hudson will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10 AM until service time Saturday at the funeral home. She was born April 21, 1973 in Beeville, Texas, to the Angela Calahan Burns, of Shelbyville, and the late Reverend Bobby Glenn Burns. She was a board member for Women of Grace, treasurer for the recovery organization and the backbone of the Recovery Community in Bedford County. She held various offices in her church, Greenhill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 20 years, Phillip Lawrence Powell, a son, Brian Keith Powell; daughters, Amber Dawn Felts of Tullahoma, and Whitney Schea Powell of Shelbyville; a sister, Libby Burns; grandchildren Brooklyn, Tylen, and Grayson Felts, Devin and Isabella Allen, Harper and Amillana Powell; nephews Dalen Carver, of Madison, AL, Dathan Brock, of Shelbyville; niece, Gillian Dunaway, of Shelbyville; mother and father in law, Lawrence and Martha Powell; aunts and uncle, Connie Bowen and Theresa and Wayne Butts; and her dog, Boo Radley. In lieu of flowers, please celebrate Carlie’s life by reaching out to someone with an act of kindness in her memory.
