Mr. Douglas Armstrong, age 71, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Jimmy Tedder will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. He was born July 9, 1945, in Bedford County, to the late Herbert Odell and Bernice May Douglas Armstrong. He was a retired painter, and loved to fish for bass. He loved reading his Bible daily and spending time with the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Armstrong. Survivors include six children, Sandra (Kenneth) Wainscott, of Smyrna, Charlotte (John) Lowell, of Columbia, Jennifer (Brennan) Whitson, of Shelbyville; three sons, Anthony Armstrong, of Columbia, Tom Armstrong, of Westmoreland, TN, and Shaun (Katie) Armstrong, of Nashville; six brothers, William (Jean) Armstrong, of Lebanon, James Armstrong, Kenneth Armstrong, Paul (Kathryn), Roy Armstrong, and Ray (Judy) Armstrong, all of Shelbyville; two sisters, Mary Paulson, of Wisconsin and Ruth (George) Prince, of Shelbyville; eleven grandchildren, Timothy Beaver, Tiffany Beaver, Christopher (Tiffany) Cornelius, Hunter Jewell, Kristen Armstrong, Tyler Armstrong, Jordan Armstrong, Brandon Armstrong, Caylee Armstrong, Lucas Armstrong, and Lucy Armstrong; three great grandchildren, Malkayla Beaver, Jaxson Cornelius, and Alania Armstrong; his companion, Patsy Crosley. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
