Exie Nell Landers, age 89, peacefully passed away April 27, 2020 at NHC in Pulaski. She was born May 5, 1930 in Decatur, AL, and was a resident of Bedford County from the age of eight. She attended Unionville High School for two years, where she played basketball, and later went on to graduate from Shelbyville Central High School in 1948. She married husband Burtis Landers in 1947, and they were married for 63 years before his death. Exie Nell’s career included owning Rainbow Kindergarten, later changing careers to banking where she became Assistant Vice President of the loan department at First National Bank. She was a long-time faithful member of First Baptist Church, where she participated in the Paul Whitaker Sunday School class. She belonged to the Embroiders Guild of America, Cheekwood Chapter and Shelbyville Satellite Chapter. She had a penchant for needlework, home decorating, cooking and fashion. Exie Nell cherished her tight knit group of friends, and regularly played bridge in several groups throughout town. She is preceded in death by her parents James and Nellie Campbell, aunt Vera Burrow who raised her from the age of eight, husband Burtis Landers, brother Bill Campbell, and sister Dorothy Haithcote. She is survived by her son, Burt Landers (Connie) of Shelbyville, daughter Lisa Blair (Bill) of Pulaski, grandchildren Courtney Gregory (Kevin) of Murfreesboro, Matt Blair (Ashley) of Pulaski, Scott Blair (Stephanie) of Pulaski, Josh Landers (Katie) of Chattanooga, Chris Landers (Lindsey) of Shelbyville, and eleven great grandchildren. Memorials can be made to the First Choice Pregnancy Counseling Center, where she volunteered and knitted caps for many newborns over the years. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. There will be a private graveside service.
