Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Smith

June 1, 1935 - April 8, 2022

Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Smith, age 86, of Shelbyville, passed away April 8, 2022. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 15, 2022, at Bright Temple Church of God in Christ with burial to follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Elder Larry Crismon, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Frances was born June 1, 1935, in Bedford County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Amy Lee Harris. She was married to the late James Andy Smith. She was also preceded in death by her two brother, Samuel Harris and Arthur Louis Harris. Missionary Smith was a prayer warrior who absolutely loved prayer. She joined other prayer warriors each morning and at noon for everyday for prayer services. People would come to her home or call her on the phone to prayer for them or their family. She served as a faithful member of Bright Temple Church of God in Christ first under the late Bishop Audley King and then Superintendent Larry Crismon, Sr. and then her present pastor Dr. Superintendent Larry Crismon, Jr. Missionary Smith taught the young women's Sunday school class and was once the Hospitality President, former Annex leader, and involved in the nursing home outreach ministry. She loved teaching the small children's Sunshine Band on Saturdays. She received acknowledgements as plaques and even articles in the newspaper for her outstanding involvement in community outreach as well as in-reach in her church. One of her relaxing pass times was working in her yard and of course cleaning her house daily. Each time family or friends came to visit, they would find her with a television on in at least three rooms of her house with preaching. Sometimes you would find her with her tapes playing gospel songs while she shouted and danced in her home because the joy of the Lord was her strength and she loved to praise the Lord. She was employed at Bedford County Hospital for eight years. She also worked for several years at Tyson Foods as a USDA inspector. Her favorite job was doing domestic work in several homes in Shelbyville becuase of her love for cleaning homes which she continued until she was no longer able to work. She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted only child, Evangelist Mary Singleton Johnson, of Smyrna; two sisters, Mattie Harris and Bettie Smith; two granddaughters, Letasha Singleton and Jamie Singleton Merlo; four great-grandchildren: Quinlan Singleton, James Singleton, Breasia Singleton, and Bailey Merlo; two devoted godsons, Dr. Larry Crismon, II and Elder Andrae Crismon, goddaughter, Bertha Johnson and several other godsons, goddaughters, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
