Mr. Fred Thomas Davis Sr.

Mr. Fred Thomas Davis, Sr., age 94, of Shelbyville, passed away January 13, 2020, at home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 16, 2020, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Brother Jimmy Gray will officiate. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at the funeral home. He was born December 18, 1925, in Memphis, to the late A. Glover Davis, Sr. and Loraine Hilburn Davis. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during WWII. He was a dairyman for 55 years and served on the Tennessee Dairy Board. He was a charter member of East Park Church where he served as treasurer for 25 years. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier for 25 years. Upon retirement, he bought a pontoon boat and spent many days fishing with his sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Glover Davis, Jr.; a sister, Doris Seigneur; and a granddaughter, Betty Jane Davis. He is survived by his wife of 73 ½ years, Mary “Betty” Martin Davis; a daughter, Mary Davis-Taylor; three sons, Fred Thomas (Hyesuk) Davis, Jr., John (Mary Ann) Davis, and Sam (Terry) Davis; ten grandchildren: Amanda (Ansley) Wilder, Leslie Burris (Randy Glover), Dawn (Cliff) Wilson, Bryan Davis, Heather Wash (Ryan Tafelski), Beth (Matt) Keele, Sheri (Josh) Braun. Jeff (Megan) Davis, Brook (Paul) Benavides, and Caleb (Allison) Davis; seventeen great-grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Shelbyville-Bedford County Public Library 220 S. Jefferson St., Shelbyville, TN 37160. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
