Mr. James Gary Carter

Mr. James “Gary” Carter, age 60, of Bell Buckle, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Funeral services will be 3 PM Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Brother Tony Burnett and Brother Jimmy Gray will officiate, with burial to follow in Hazel Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Wednesday at the funereal home. He was born August 2, 1954, in Bedford County, to the late Calvin and Sarah Alford Carter. He was a machinist with Empire Berol Corporation, and then was a self employed contractor until failing health forced him to retire. Gary’s favorite pastime was being involved with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews in their daily lives and especially their sporting events. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Lyndell Carter, Roy Carter, and David Carter; a sister, Thelma Louise Fuston, and nephew, Andy Fuston. Survivors include his wife, Shirley West Carter; four sons, Chad Carter and Brad Carter, both of Shelbyville, and Ken Butts and Kevin (Becky) Butts, both of Bell Buckle; sister, Evelyn Carter Loehle and a brother, Kenneth (Frances) Carter, both of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren, Chase Carter, Ava Butts, Jackson Butts, Beau Butts, Monica Gann, Belle Felts, and Brooke Felts; numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to: American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
