Mr. James L. ‘Jim” Hatfield, age 81, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021. Private visitation and graveside services will be held at Rosebank Cemetery in the Flat Creek Community of Bedford County. Jamie Byrom will officiate. He was born July 14, 1939, on Fry Branch Road in Lynnville, Tennessee, to the late H.C. and Mary London Hatfield. He attended Marshall County schools, was a member of the MCHS class of 1957, completed classes in advanced shop, math, and design. He was a former member of the Tennessee National Guard. Mr. Hatfield worked as a Tool and Die maker for eighteen years in Illinois, Tennessee, and Arkansas. Later he worked for welding supply company for twenty-five years as a service technician, and received Robotic training and service before retiring in 2002. Jim and his wife began their life in Bedford County at retirement. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Christ and worshipped at Flat Creek Church of Christ in Shelbyville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Wayne Hatfield, a daughter, Sara Patrice Hatfield, and a sister, Ann Thurm. Survivors include his wife of 58+years, Helen Love Bowers Hatfield and daughters, Gwen Ward, and her husband Horace, all of Shelbyville and Sharon Hatfield Johnson, and her husband William ‘Will”, of Chapel Hill; a son, James L. “Jim” Hatfield, and his wife Terri, of Murfreesboro; a sister, Lorna Hatfield Russell, of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Haley Hatfield, and her husband Lee Edwards, and Taylor Hatfield. Jim would be honored with memorials to The Shriners Hospital, American Heart Association, or Bedford County Animal Shelter. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
