Mrs. Jean Locke Stimpson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Emma Jean Stimpson, age 92, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday, July 2, 2022. At Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Doug Dezotell will officiate, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 10 AM to noon prior to the service on Saturday. She was born October 22, 1929, in Shelbyville, to the late Robert and Mattie Locke. She retired from 37 years of teaching in the Bedford County School System in 1991, then worked several more years as a secretary/receptionist at the Shelbyville Animal Hospital. She was a charter member of Cannon United Methodist Church. She was active in starting the United Methodist Women’s group where she served as President, Vice-President, and Nominations Committee member for the Murfreesboro (Stones River) District. She was a faithful member of the choir and Bible Study, and she continued her Bible study while living at Carriage House. She also enjoyed active membership in the Embroiders Guild, FCE, the Shelbyville Women’s Club, and the Bedford County Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles L. Stimpson; her sister, Frances Troxler; and her brother, Roy Locke. She is survived by her three sons, Dr. Charles Stimpson (Dr. Carol Magnuson) and Dr. Stephen (Linda) Stimpson, both of Shelbyville, and Quintin (Michele) Stimpson of Bell Buckle; six grandchildren, Dr. Andrew Stimpson, Alan (Megan) Stimpson, Emily (Tim) Stimpson-Hall, Mattie Stimpson, Dr. Andrea (Bill) Anderson, and Stacy Altamirano, and seven great grandchildren, Elenor Stimpson, Jed Stimpson, Sylvie Hall, Hazel Hall, Julia Anderson, Jamie Altamirano, and Anthony Altamirano. Mrs. Stimpson would be honored for memorials made to either Cannon United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Good Samaritan. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
