Margaret "Granny" Nell Greene Cooper was born on February 1, 1929, in Wartrace, Tennessee, to the late Clayton and Alice Greene. Margaret and her twin sister were the 6th and 7th of sixteen children. She was the last of her siblings to pass. She departed this earthly life and transitioned into eternal life on May 6, 2020, at home with her loved ones surrounded by her side. Margaret gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Wartrace, Tennessee, where she served as a choir member, church secretary, and president of the Usher Board. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the church until it closed. After the closing of the church, she enjoyed attending Sevier St. First Baptist Church until her health failed. She was educated at Bedford County Training School. She was known as Margaret Nell, "the best hairdresser in Wartrace, Tennessee." She was married to the late Morris "Pete" Ashley Cooper, and from this union, eight children were born: Bobbie, Gene, Eddie, June, Duane, Tony, Connie, and Vicky. She was preceded in death by two sons, Bobbie Morris and Eddie Lee Cooper; a granddaughter Myron Denise Hill Sebastian; a grandson Issac Hubert; and a great-grandson, Franisco Gomez III. She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Gene Cooper, Duane Cooper, Tony Cooper, and Connie Moss, all of Shelbyville, June Pinkerton, of LaVergne, and Vicky (Jesse) Harvey, of Wartrace; seventeen grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, a devoted friend, Elizabeth Robinson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones. A private service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Elder Mitchel Buchanan will officiate and Lanny Buchanan will serve as eulogist. Burial will follow at Haley Cemetery in Wartrace. Due to the Coronvirus pandemic, visitation will be Friday, May 8, 2020, from 12 noon until 4 PM. Visitors can come by to pay their respects, sign the register book, view the slide show, and obtain a memorial record. No more than 10 people at a time will be allowed in the funeral home. The family will not be present. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
