Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016, 1:00 p.m., at Bright Temple COGIC. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Garden Cemetery, Shelbyville, TN. Michelle passed away February 28, 2016. Michelle (Black) Thompson was born on March 1, 1962, in Newark, N.J., to the late Crawford Black Jr., and Annie Black. She was raised in Newark, N.J., and graduated from Barringer High School in 1979. After graduation she enlisted into United States Army where she served three years. She met Michael while stationed in Frankfurt Germany. She was honorably discharged in 1983. Afterwards, she worked as a Teachers Technician for the Military Ocean Terminal, Bayonne Elementary School. She also worked as a Military Base Operator for Military Traffic Command in Bayonne. Later during Michael and Michelle’s many different movements in the military, she was employed as a Military Base Operator at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. While they both were stationed in Mannheim Germany, Michelle became a Teacher’s Aide at Benjamin Franklin Village Elementary School in Mannheim, Germany. During and after Michael’s retirement, Michelle went into her own private Child Care Service for over five years. She then later was employed as a Family Child Care Provider with Fort Hood, Family Youth School Services and as a Child Care Mentor for the Ft. Hood Family Child Care Providers Program. She also was an Event and Décor Coordinator for the various churches Michael and Michelle were members of. Michelle married Michael K. Thompson Sr., on November 3, 1984, in Newark New Jersey, at First Timothy Baptist Church. They loved doing things together especially shopping, traveling and talking with young couples about love, life, and marriage. She always carried a beautiful spirit, and befriended many because of that loving spirit. She always smiled, and helped many women understand the responsibilities of loving how to be a women, wife, and mother. She was humble but most defiantly a women of excellence. She loved her children and dedicated her life in being the greatest mother. She loved her siblings and her in laws as the same. Everybody loved Michelle, and Michelle loved everybody. Her compassionate, and thoughtfulness to others was a magnate to all. She gave, she sacrificed, she shared, she cared and most of all she loved. Many women looked up to her, and search for her for her wisdom and her understanding of life, and how a lady she be. She loved her praise and worship music. She did not like to speak out publically, but should did have a lot to say to those who needed her. Always a friend and always close always there. She was known for her décor and fashion. She was quite because her heart was always filled with peace, joy and happiness. God was her anchor, God was her refuge, and God was her High Tower. Michelle was a past member of St. John Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey First Timothy Missionary Baptist Church Newark, New Jersey; Shama International Christian Center, Mannheim, Germany; United Faith Church, Copperas, Cove, TX, Destiny Outreach, Killeen, TX and Beyond the Veil Church Killeen Texas. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Michael K. Thompson Sr., of Killeen, TX; her children: Michael Kenric Thompson Jr., of Round Rock, TX, Antoine Lamar Thompson (Dewyantit) of Panama City, FL, Davon Allen Thompson and Meika Lashelle Thompson both of Killeen, TX; brothers: Crawford R. Black, Michael S. Black and Derrick L. Black all of Newark, NJ; sisters: Patricia Black of Newark, NJ and Karen R. Robinson (Johnest) of Irvington, NJ; grandchildren: Lailani R. Thompson and Antoine L. Thompson Jr., and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Crawford Black Jr. and Annie Black.
