Mr. Roy Campbell, Jr., age 95, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021. Funeral Services will be 12 PM Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend John “Tommy” Flack will officiate, and Pastor Glenn Sutton, will be eulogist. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 3-7 PM Tuesday, and again two hours prior to service Wednesday, at the funeral home. The family strongly request the wearing of mask and the practice of social distancing. Mr. Roy Campbell, Jr. was born on May 4, 1925 on Morton King Farm in Bedford County, TN, as the only son of the late Roy and Jessie Ruth Campbell. He departed this life during the dawn of April 9, 2021. Working faithfully as a devoted son and sharecropper, he was drafted into the U.S Army in 1950 as a Medical Aidman, and was recognized for his bravery and fortitude aboard the U.S Naval Ship the Gen. C.H. Muir. He also served in the Korean War and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal for his service. After serving his country, he returned to Bedford County and was united in marriage to Dorothy King, and to their union, three sons were born: Roy Anthony, B. Glenn, and Thomas Campbell. Affectionatley known as Roy, Jr., he served diligently on the Thompson Grove Baptist Church deacon board for more than 50 years. He also served as a Good Samaritan volunteer, supporting his community with 30 years of selfless and dedicated service. Respected as a kind, big-hearted, loving husband, father, granddaddy, uncle, and friend, he is already greatly missed. Left to honor his legacy is his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Campbell; three sons: Roy Anthony “Soup” Campbell and his wife Linda of Memphis; Glenn Campbell and his wife Yuvonda, and Thomas Campbell all of Shelbyville. Three grandsons: Tyler Campbell of Shelbyville, Jonathan Campbell of PCB, Florida, and Antonio Campbell of Memphis. Five granddaughters: LaSaundra Campbell and Tabitha (Avery) DeVaughn all of Memphis. Clorissa Campbell of Nashville, Kethlin Campbell of Shelbyville and Jai Trice of Murfreesboro. Six great-granddaughters: Camiah Brantley, Caliyah, Camora, Janelia, Jomaira, and Iris Campbell. One great-grandson, Kaziah Campbell. A sister, Mrs. Gladys Flack of Shelbyville, one brother-in-law, Ed (Ann) King all of Shelbyville, and one sister-in-law, Elsie Buchanan of Fayetteville, as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
