Mrs. Shirley Faye Cook Dye, was born April 3, 1937. On Sunday, September 13, 2020, with her family by her side, her spirit bade farewell to her earthly tabernacle of 83 years, and she entered into the glorious presence of her Lord Jesus Christ. Shirley was the daughter of the late John Alex and Babe Ruth Etheridge Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, John David Cook, Carl Wayne Cook, and a sister, Judy Williams. Shirley and her late husband of 52 years, William Glendon Dye, were charter Members, of Faith Baptist Church, where she served in the church nursery, Vacation Bible School, and was a devoted member of the Faithful Ladies Sunday School Class. She loved old fashioned preachin’ and singin’, and was a financial supporter of missions locally and worldwide. Survivors include four sisters, Sarah (Joe) Dean, Agnes Meredith, Toni (Mark) Welch, and Zedia (Billy) Fanning, all of Shelbyville; her only son born on Mothers Day of 1959, William David, and her loving daughter in law, Evelyn Mae Dye and her two grandchildren, Rebekah Joy Walsh and Jonathan David Dye. Also, a dear person, valued friend, an extended family member and granddaughter, Deborah Joyce Shore. Shirley was loved and blessed by a multitude on nieces and nephews. A special thanks and recognition to all Lynchburg Nursing Home from housekeeping, food services, therapeutic and rehab personnel, nurses as well as administrative staff who ministered caring love and healing during her stays. Each and every one held a special place in her heart. Especially in the past three weeks, thanks to every Hospice Compassus caregiver in providing home comfort in her end of life care. In lieu of flowers, Shirley requested that donations be made to Life Worth Living Baptist Ministries, P.O. Box 1803, Shelbyville, TN 37162-1803, or to Faith Baptist Church, 608 Neeley Ave., Shelbyville TN 37160. Funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Faith Baptist Church. Dr. Charles Redmon will officiate, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Wednesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
