Mr. Vernon "Mr. Haney" Wilhoite

Vernon “Mr. Haney” Wilhoite, age 83, of the Rover Community, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at his home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Mark Pierce and Jim Lawyer will officiate, with burial to follow in Simpson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. He was born August 8, 1931, in Bedford County, to the late Joe B. and Elma Pierce Wilhoite. He was a retired truck driver and loved the art of trading. “Mr. Haney” was well known in these parts and as one who was looking for a bargain and loved to haggle. He held membership in Unionville Church of Christ. Preceding him in death was his wife, Johnnie Hill Wilhoite; brothers, Hulan and Doyle Wilhoite; and sisters, Lorene Leebrick and Dorothy Ruth Wilhoite. Survivors include five children, Henry (Anna) Wilhoite, of Shelbyville, Helen (Ricky) Blanton, of Chapel Hill, Bobby (Janet) Wilhoite, of Unionville, Peggy (David) Newbern, of Unionville, and Billy (Terri) Wilhoite, of Shelbyville, thirteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren; a sister, Marie Wilhoite Chilton, of Mt. Juliet. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
