William Howard Holbert, Jr, affectionately known as “June Bug”, son of the late William Howard Holbert Sr and Letha Holbert, was born December 12, 1962. He attended Shelbyville Central High School and was a valuable member of the football team. Upon graduation, June Bug enlisted in the United States Army. He professed a faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of Sevier Street First Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN. June Bug was a skilled carpenter and an excellent cook. He was committed to looking out and providing watch for his elderly neighbors in his neighborhood. He was a devoted son to his mother, Letha, and acted as a surrogate caregiver for her in spite of his own physical limitations. His father, William Howard Holbert Sr and brother, Steve Holbert, preceded him in death. Those left to always cherish the memory of this easy going, quiet, even tempered man are his devoted daughter, Shareka (Corteay) Curry, grandson, Shawn, whom he loved dearly of Murfreesboro, TN; loving mother, Letha Holbert of Shelbyville, TN; a devoted sister, Beverly Verge of Shelbyville, TN; sister in law, Regina Holbert of Murfreesboro, TN; nieces, Jadae’ Verge of Murfreesboro, TN, Jennifer (Joseph) Dallas and Jasmine Baugh of Shelbyville, TN; nephews, Chris (Jamille Holbert of Chattanooga, TN and Jonathan (LaShay) Verge of Shelbyville, TN; aunts, Janie Terry, Linda Tillman of Nashville, TN, Brenda Cannon, Charlotte (William) Hill of Winchester, TN, Valerie (Edward) Simmons of Estill Springs, TN, Cheri Cannon of Washington, DC, and Jean Brady, who is also his godmother, of Shelbyville, TN; uncles Larry (Geri) Holbert of Dallas, TX and Henry (Connie) Cortner of Unionville, TN; a devoted cousin, Arthur Perkins of Shelbyville, TN; devoted friends, Teresa Greer and Baron “Bubba” Verge of Murfreesboro, TN; his devoted Pastor Robert C (Faye) Verge and church family, and a large host of relatives and friends. We wish to extend a special thanks to Homestead Health Care, his caregiver, Priscilla Cates and the Tri Star Summit Surgical ICU Team. Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, October 9, 2020, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Pastor R.C. Verge will be eulogist. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to service Friday at the funeral home. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
