Mr. Arthur Don Perkins

Arthur Don Perkins, was born October 26, 1971. The fourth child to the late Guy Fred Perkins and Johnnie Mai Perkins. The Lord saw fit to call him home on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Springfield Mercy Reach Medical Center in Springfield, OH. Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Sevier Street First Baptist Church in Shelbyville. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time at the church. Arthur, was affectionately known as Pumpkin/AP/Uncle P to those who knew and loved him. Arthur was a caregiver to adults with challenging disabilities. A dependable employee, Arthur had an angelic voice that was admired by many. In his eyesight, his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, could do no wrong. He loved them as much as they loved him. For those that knew Arthur, he always had to be right in any conversation and have the last word. Arthur was educated in the Bedford County School System. He professed a faith in Christ at an early age at Sevier Street First Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Robert C. Verge, and later united with Vessels Unto Honour Ministries, under the leadership of his brother Pastor John B. Perkins. He was employed at KFC in Springfield., OH. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Carl Alford Perkins, Sr.; foster sister, Laura “Tina” Greer, foster brother, Larry McMahon, Sr., grandparents, Laura Cortner, William Cannon, Lourene Sparks, William Coy Perkins, and adopted grandparents, Carl and Ethel Stokes. Those left to reminisce on the memories of Arthur, his loving son, Demetrice Woods, of Franklin, TN and Michael Webb, of Rolla, MO. Arthur’s affectionate heart will truly be missed by his grandson, Mi’Khi Perkins, of Shelbyville, TN; Braiden Webb, of Rolla, MO, and an honorary grandson, Casey Sims. Two brothers that he looked up to, Guy Fred Jr. (Joyce) Perkins and John Perkins; devoted sister Shawanda Perkis, all of Shelbyville, TN; seven aunts, Letha Holbert, of Shelbyville, TN, Birdie Johnson and Janice Sparks, both of Springfield, OH, Charlotte (William) Hill and Brenda Cannon, both of Winchester, TN, Valerie (Edward) Simmons, of Estill Springs, TN, and Cherie Cannon of Baltimore, MD; stepmother, Savannah Edmonds, of Shelbyville, TN, sisters-in laws, Donna Perkins of Shelbyville, TN, and Kawonna Lewis of Rolla, MO. Special friend, Tammy Wells and the former Que Tae Que Social Club. Eighteen nieces and nephews, including children that viewed him as Uncle P. Also, numerous great nieces and great nephews, a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones.
